With the rings between the spacecraft and Earth, Cassini transmitted radio signals to Earth. Analysis of the received signals has revealed details of ring particle sizes.
This simulated image presents the findings. Red shades indicate absence of particles less than 5 cm in diameter. Green shades indicate presence of particles of smaller than 5 cm Blue shades indicate presence of particles smaller than 1 cm, respectively.
The gradual increase in shades of green towards the outer edge of ring A indicates increasing in the abundance of 5-centimeter and smaller particles.
