The Sombrero Galaxy is only 28 million light years away. It is about 6 minutes of arc across (one fifth the angular diameter of the moon)

It is much, much dimmer than the moon. It cannot be seen with the unaided eye. A 10 inch telesecope or time exposure photography is required to render this object visible.
