Mars

Mars from Earth

Earth passes Mars at 26 monthly intervals. We get our best views of Mars from Earth during those passes. These images were made during the 1999 pass.

Animation generated from a series of HST images.

Nothing we see from Earth, however, prepares us for the extraordinary detail returned by Mars orbiters and surface landers.
