Rocky Planets

The solar system formed from a cloud of dust and gas.

When hydrogen fusion began in the Sun, its intense radiation and solar wind swept gas and dust from the inner solar system.

Only the inner, rocky planets. bound by the Sun's gravity and too heavy to be swept away by radiation pressure remained.
