In 2004, the four hundredth anniversary of the explosion, astronomers used the Chandra X-Ray Telescope, the Hubble Telescope and the Spitzer Infrared Telescope to study the remains of Kepler's supernova.

They detected a shell of gas, rushing through surrounding space at 2,000 km per second. It now forms a bubble, 14 light years across.

This is a false colour image, made by combining data from the three telescopes.
